De-ice boots are the black rubber pneumatic surfaces on the leading edges of your wings, horizontal stabilizer, and vertical fin. They are safety equipment. When they deteriorate, they crack, lose flexibility, and fail to shed ice at the exact moment your aircraft needs them to. Refurbishing de-ice boots requires manufacturer-approved conditioners, correct technique, and a 24 to 48 hour ground time after service. De-ice boot refurbishment is the conditioning and restoration process performed on the rubber pneumatic boots that mechanically break up ice on aircraft leading edges. Over time, exposure to UV radiation, ozone, hydraulic fluid, and airborne contaminants degrades the rubber, causing surface cracking, loss of flexibility, and reduced ice-shedding performance. Refurbishment restores flexibility, appearance, and function without requiring boot replacement.

Each boot is cleaned with manufacturer-approved rubber cleaner to remove contamination, hydraulic bleed, and residue from prior products.

OEM-approved boot conditioner is applied evenly across the boot surface. This coat restores flexibility and begins UV protection.

Additional coats are applied per manufacturer specification, with appropriate flash time between coats.

The aircraft cannot fly for 24 to 48 hours after boot refurbishment to allow full cure. We inspect the boots post-cure and provide a written service record.

No. Refurbishment restores flexibility and appearance for boots that are still structurally sound. Boots with active delamination, deep cracking through the rubber, or torn surfaces need replacement, not conditioning. Our assessment identifies which is which.
We use products approved by the original equipment manufacturer of the boots we are working on. OEM approval is the standard the aviation industry uses for boot conditioning. Product-specific approval varies by boot manufacturer.
We strongly prefer to perform boot work indoors in a controlled environment to manage cure conditions and avoid airborne contamination. Outdoor work is possible in the right weather window but not preferred.
